Memory Care
Alzheimer’s and Dementia care in a safe and comfortable environment
Aperion Care facilities with Garden units offer warm, secured, and engaging home-like environments for guests in need of memory care. Our caregivers practice evidenced-based, person-centered communication and incorporate the Montessori method, sensory activities, life skill stations and music to help residents reconnect with pleasant past events.
Memory Care Programming
Montessori Method
This approach re-discovers and supports the person behind the dementia. Activities with meaning and purpose are added back into residents’ lives based on their needs, interests, skills and abilities.
Sensory Activities
Sensory activity benefits include heightened awareness of surroundings, decreased agitation and wandering behavior, increased concentration, improved cognitive function, mood and wellbeing.
Life Skill Stations
Stations help residents spark memories and enjoy familiar situations from the past. These improve mood, behavior, movement, communication, and the practice of daily routines.
Music and Memories
Listening to music or singing songs can relieve stress and reduce anxiety, depression and agitation. Musical memories are often preserved by those with Alzheimer’s disease.
